Advanced Wound Care in Saginaw MI
Our goal is to act as a supplemental service to heal advanced wounds including, but not limited to, severe diabetic ulcers and pressure ulcers that have not progressed with conventional wound care treatment. Patients struggling with these types of wounds are known to exhaust many home healthcare resources and pose a risk for hospital admission. Working with Great Lakes Spine and Medical in collaboration with home healthcare companies has been found to decrease barriers in wound care by providing more convenience for the patient.
Great Lakes Spine and Medical will provide an initial intake to evaluate each patient to determine whether they qualify for advanced wound care treatment or whether conventional wound care should continue to be utilized. If the patient does qualify, we will be using different forms of amniotic membrane allografts that will be applied to the wound bed to effectively heal the wound. We offer a complete start-to-finish procurement of patients' advanced wound care needs by providing the following:
- Assessment of the needs of each wound care patient
- Determining which application would offer the highest success rate for the patient
- Debridement and cleansing of the wound
- Facilitating all wound-related dressing changes and applications of biologics
- Modifying treatment and/or follow-up orders if necessary
Advanced wound care from our team will increase patient satisfaction and add value to the health of the patient.
Treatment Process
Our Nurse Practitioner will be sent to evaluate the patient’s wound(s), including debridement if necessary; typically this is done within one week of receiving new patient information.
Our initial evaluation documentation is submitted and we then await pre-authorization.
Once approved, we will have our biologics distributor mail the amniotic grafts and then advanced wound care treatments will begin; typically this is no more than a week from the initial evaluation.
Our Nurse Practitioner(s) will be providing treatment weekly that will be coordinated with both the patient and the home health care agency.
Follow up orders will be provided for any home health nurses or caregivers that are assisting with care between graft applications if applicable.
