Jorge Plasencia, MD

Medical Director
Lorenzo Berlanga, MD, PC
Dr. Berlanga is a top-rated physician with over 25 years of experience who continuously advocates for high-quality health care while being mindful of costs, further allowing him to cultivate a wide range of medical skills. He is a member of the Great Lakes Organized System of Care, Vice President of Physicians Associates of Michigan, and has advised several medical organizations as a medical director.
His experience spans obstetrics care, inner-city and rural clinics, and post-disaster recovery health care. His comfort in caring for all ages, from neonatal to geriatrics, was honed at the University of Michigan. As a continual learner, he has obtained additional skills in sports medicine, weight loss management, and all facets of primary care and family medicine, including skin cancer care. He has worked at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN, and the University of Michigan.
He completed his residency training at the University of Michigan, his doctorate at Michigan State University, and a Bachelor of Science in Medical Technology at Central Michigan University. He was a clinical professor at Mayo Clinic, Rochester, for four years, as well as at MSU College of Human Medicine Residency. He moved to Midland in 2008 where he currently resides.

Alexander Dalton, DC
Dr. Dalton started his chiropractic career at Great Lakes Spine & Medical in 2016. Dr. Dalton graduated from Saginaw Valley State University with a Bachelor of Science in Exercise Sciences.
His graduate studies were completed at Palmer College of Chiropractic in Port Orange, Florida. He was born and raised right here in Saginaw, Michigan and is thankful that he has been able to come back home to serve the people of his community.

Jeffrey Kelly, DC
Dr. Kelly has been a chiropractor at Great Lakes Spine & Medical since 2003. His mission over the last 20 years has been to teach his patients about achieving their optimal health. Dr. Kelly graduated from Michigan State University and Logan College of Chiropractic. When he's not in the office he enjoys spending time with his family and being outdoors.

Christopher Stevenson, DC
Dr. Stevenson joined Great Lakes Spine & Medical in 2024. His goal is to provide comprehensive chiropractic care in a holistic manner, and firmly believes that movement is healing.
Dr. Stevenson grew up in Saginaw, Michigan where he attended Swan Valley schools and participated in football, wrestling, and track. He obtained his Bachelor of Science degree in Kinesiology at Central Michigan University, where he also developed an interest in nutrition and movement and the role they play in maintaining and improving health. At Palmer College of Chiropractic in Port Orange, Florida, he earned his Doctor of Chiropractic degree. While there, he was also a clinical teaching assistant and participated in outreach programs to treat athletes. Dr. Stevenson is happy to be back in Michigan and looks forward to serving both his patients and his home community.

Kevin Homer, DC
Dr. Homer joined the Great Lakes Spine & Medical in 2025. After spending a few years working at a tool and die factory and being able to see and experience first hand the spinal problems caused by repetitive factory work, he decided to pursue a career in fixing these types of problems. Becoming a Chiropractor was the perfect choice for him.
Dr. Homer completed his undergraduate work at Greenville Technical College in Greenville, SC. He then attended Sherman College of Chiropractic where he graduated in 2001. After graduating Dr. Homer moved back to Michigan and has practiced at various locations around the state. He is a native to the Michigan thumb area, growing up in Imlay City

Alison Burgess, APRN, FNP-BC, HHP-BC
Meet our Family Nurse Practitioner with 14 years of experience in healthcare. The majority of Alison's career has been serving the Saginaw community, including several other cities throughout Michigan, in many leadership, educational, and patient care roles. Alison is honored to be a part of the Great Lakes Spine & Medical team.
She has specialized in Neuro-Trauma Intensive Care, Medical-Surgical Intensive Care, Nursing Education, Senior Living Management, Family Practice, Integrative & Holistic Medicine, and Specialty Wound Care throughout her professional journey. Alison is passionate about her work, dedicated to improving the quality of life of her patients, motivated to be a part of innovative healthcare advances, and continues to serve her community in many different arenas. Alison is a native of Saginaw, Michigan, loves family and adventure, and enjoys her homesteading hobbies.

Tami VanWasshnova, APRN, FNP-BC
Tami is a board-certified Family Nurse Practitioner with 27 years of healthcare experience, including 5 years as a Nurse Practitioner working in primary care, pediatrics, and wound care. She prioritizes optimizing client health outcomes and empowering individuals as they improve their health.

Kristi Orme, APRN, AGACNP-BC
Kristi has been an Adult Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner for five years. She has experience in caring for Infectious Disease patients in a variety of inpatient settings, as well as heading a busy infectious disease clinic in Lansing, MI. She strives to provide compassionate, individualized, holistic care for every patient.
Prior to becoming a Nurse Practitioner, she worked in Intensive Care as a Registered Nurse in Saginaw, MI for 10 years. Working in an intensive care unit, and then as an Infectious Disease Specialist, she frequently cared for patients with a variety of complex wounds, including those of surgical, pressure, diabetic, skin and soft tissue, and bone and joint etiology.

Abbe Williams, PhD, APRN, FNP-BC, HHP-BC, NHE
Abbe is a board-certified Family Nurse Practitioner with over 14 years of experience in healthcare, including four years as a Nurse Practitioner. Abbe holds a Master’s of Nursing and a PhD in Natural Medicine. The majority of Abbe's career has been spent serving the Saginaw area and surrounding communities in many different educational and patient care roles.
Throughout her career she has specialized in cardiothoracic and vascular surgery, naturopathic and integrative medicine, clinical nutrition, as well as surgical, non-surgical, and advanced wound care. Abbe takes responsibility for providing high-quality, client-centered care, and is honored to serve her community. When not in uniform, she enjoys spending time with her family and baking homemade sourdough bread.

Jamie Schwartz, APRN, FNP-BC
Jamie has been a Nurse Practitioner for approximately 20 years. She thrives in busy environments which has led her to caring for patients in the urgent care setting. Seeking a more fulfilling role, she joined Great Lakes Spine & Medical in 2024 to provide wound care to patients. She has found her role in the wound care arena to be fulfilling and rewarding with her wound-healing contributions so her patients can reach their fullest potential.
Jamie obtained her post-master’s certificate in Sports Medicine from Duke University in 2023. Having this knowledge and skill has helped her with a wide range of sports-related injuries that she sees on a daily basis in the urgent care setting. Her hobbies include running, cycling, paddle boarding in the summer, and snowshoeing in the winter.

Kathy joined our Great Lakes Spine & Medical team in 2006 where she has worked as the front desk receptionist, as well as a Spinal Decompression and Laser/Electric Stimulation Technician. In addition to her wealth of knowledge, she has 13 years of customer service experience in the retail industry.

Jill Lyvere
Jill joined our team at Great Lakes Spine & Medical in 2021. She brings three years of chiropractic experience and over 20 years of customer service experience with her. She assists with Spinal Decompression, Cold Laser Therapy, and X-rays. Jill believes in chiropractic because of its pain-relieving capabilities and the ability to improve the body’s physical function.

Heidi Zobka
Heidi joined Great Lakes Spine & Medical in 2017 as a Chiropractic Assistant. She brings five years of customer service experience to the team. She currently holds the role of Billing Specialist and also assists with X-rays, Cold Laser Therapy, and Spinal Decompression. Heidi loves to see patients feel better and improve with chiropractic care.

Kayla Katzinger, LMT
Kayla has been practicing massage therapy for over 15 years. She graduated from Bayshire Massage Academy in 2006. She is licensed in the states of California, Illinois, and Michigan. She specializes in deep tissue massage, including cupping and scraping therapies. She loves helping people and finds her career to be very rewarding.

Sarah has been a Licensed Massage Therapist since 2017. She specializes in deep tissue, sports massage, soft tissue release, and scar tissue therapy. She loves being a part of her patients’ healing process and individualizes each session to the needs of her patients.

Chelsa has been a Massage Therapist for 13 years. Graduating from Baker College in 2010, she is board certified through the National Certification Board for Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork and is licensed in the state of Michigan. She specializes in deep tissue massage, including cupping and sports massage.
